Bring your best everyday.

Here are 5 ways to bring your best to work and other social interactions everyday:

  1.  SLEEP WELL: It’s highly unlikely this is the first blog post you have read extolling the virtues of sleep. While many business leaders boast about how few hours they sleep, its deprivation can cut into quality of relationships through mood imbalance. So, aim not only to succeed at your business or career, aim also to succeed at your relationships just by getting a little more sleep.
  2. BE WELL: Look after yourself. Exercise, get medical check-ups, give some thought to your mental and emotional well-being. Apart from the sick days you could save your work place, think about how much happier you’ll be just by actively keeping your body and soul in peak form.
  3. THINK WELL: We are what we think. Does your self-talk align with good ideals? Are you actively working towards becoming a better person? Be kind to yourself in your inner monologue. Don’t beat down on yourself. You’re imperfect. Everyone around you already knows that. Accept your quirks and give yourself the same slack you hopefully give others when their shortcomings are in the spotlight.
  4. CHOOSE WELL: When it comes to making the ‘big’ decisions, remember that it’s your life and destiny. Ultimately, you want to get to the end of your life content with most of the decisions you made. One way to test the validity of your decisions is to ask yourself, if there was no one else in the world, what would you choose to do in that moment without the pressure of external opinions? While this may seem superficial or selfish, or even unrealistic when you have people who directly depend on you, if your decisions come from a place of love (for yourself first and then others) you’re very likely to do the right thing. For instance, while you may not yet work at your ideal career as you need the income to support yourself and others, where possible, plan to work where your gifts are best fitted and more likely to prepare you for what you would love to do eventually.
  5. PLAY WELL: Leisure is good. Go on and have a laugh.

Bonus: Figure out the underlying purpose of your existence by taking a good look at that thing which you do, that you consistently get genuine commendation for, then find a way to improve humanity through that thing.
