Keys to regret-free living for dreamers.
Tales of wit over brawn, or wit over agility such as the ones featuring the tortoise and the elephant or fox, or the elephant and hare, illustrate that the greatest of odds can be overcome with some meaningful thought.
Odds are, you have a dream. Something in the depths of you that simply will not go away.
That dream may present itself as an elephant. Simply too big for you to subdue or attain on your own. Or it may present as a hare. Too fast for you to keep up with. Either way, it’s okay to be like the tortoise with a great big prize ahead if you could only bring yourself to face up to the challenge.
Before the tortoise hatched out its plan to win a race with the hare, or get the elephant where it wanted, the tortoise did its homework which led to perfectly executed victories. If you have not already done so, why not take some time to write down your dream? Writing it down will go a long way in helping you articulate what you have always known but probably not been able to fully describe to anyone including yourself.
Note this:
- Writing out your dream enables clarity.
- Clarity feeds planning.
- Planning is the fore step of execution.
Maybe you have the next big tech idea. Maybe you’ll create a blog exploring topics from a perspective that no one else has done. Maybe you’ll be the next big deal on YouTube or a great social media influencer. Maybe your entrepreneurial exploits will lead you to make a difference in many lives including yours. Whatever your dream, write it down today. Even if it’s just three to five words in a message to yourself on your phone.
Why write down your dream now? Because, apart from procrastination being a great thief of exploits, just by taking one small step toward fulfilling your dream, you will awaken a long-subdued passion that just may lead you to your life’s greatest exploits.
I can’t promise you that writing your dream down will bring you great success or lots of money in the bank. But as long as they are based on the right values of love for yourself and others (you know, the golden rule!) and you are willing to pursue those dreams relentlessly (not recklessly – remember, think things through…), you will one day be thankful that you at least got started and were not consumed by the humdrum of a life that’s not the one you truly want to live.
One last thing – all dreams will be challenged. Do yourself a great favour and do not give ground to the challenges that will come to tell you your dream is simply implausible. Consider all the tips above, learn from those who have gone before you, stand on some giant shoulders. Then just go ahead and outwit your dreams.
